The global plastic trade is valued at approximately USD 1,300 billion, yet India’s exports account for only USD 12.5 billion, representing a modest 1.1% share of the global market. Recognizing this gap, AIPMA (All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association) has taken strategic steps to address the challenge.
An Export Cell has been established to analyze the import patterns of 21 key countries across 9 chapters of HSN codes. This initiative has led to the development of a comprehensive data book, comparing plastic imports from India, China, and Vietnam into these countries for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023. The report details the market share of each exporting country per HSN code, revealing significant opportunities for India to expand its footprint in the global plastic industry.
With a clear vision, AIPMA aims to quadruple India’s plastic exports within the next three years. This ambitious goal is grounded in data-driven insights and strategic collaboration. These conferences will serve as a pivotal platform for knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, and industry advancement, in alignment with the ‘Make in India – Make for the World’ initiative. By bringing together stakeholders from across the value chain, we seek to empower Indian manufacturers to access new markets, enhance competitiveness, and drive sustainable export growth.
